Blackglass Crown

A single by Sivra Dark. A dark fantasy chapter about the seduction of certainty and the danger of seeing only what we most want to believe.

The Story Behind Blackglass Crown

I wanted this chapter to deal with a different kind of danger. The earlier songs in Words Weave Worlds establish rules that can hurt you if you misunderstand them. With Blackglass Crown, I became interested in something more seductive: what happens when the dangerous thing gives you exactly the version of reality you would most like to accept?

The idea evolved into a crown connected to perception, certainty, and the temptation to stop questioning what feels good or complete. That gave me a way to stay inside the fantasy setting while exploring something very human. We all live partly inside the stories we tell ourselves, and confidence can become dangerous when it stops making room for doubt.

This song also matters inside the larger arc because Sivra is beginning to encounter forces that are not just external obstacles. The world is starting to challenge how she interprets what she sees, what she believes, and how much authority she gives to her own perception.

Creative Notes

I deliberately pushed this away from a simple wish-fulfillment object. The more interesting version was not a crown that merely showed a desired world, but one that made the desired world feel unquestionably true. That change gave the song a quieter and more psychological kind of threat.

Musically, I wanted the arrangement to feel seductive and regal before it felt dangerous. The weight comes from gothic alternative rock and restrained metal rather than nonstop aggression, so the beauty of the illusion can remain believable.

The artwork also evolved away from the recurring red-moon and cathedral formula used elsewhere in the arc. The newer direction emphasizes contrast between a ruined present and an idealized reflected world, keeping the crown central while giving this chapter a more distinct visual identity.

Listen & Follow

Play the song while you follow the lyrics.

We found the palace dressed in dust Its marble split by root and rain My guide stopped short outside the hall And would not cross the broken frame

A throne still waited in the dark A blackglass crown beside its seat No guards remained no banners moved But something there still called to me

He said don’t wear it Don’t look too long It doesn’t show you what is true It shows you what you want

Blackglass crown Beautiful lie Put the broken world together Right before my eyes

Blackglass crown Make every wrong feel right Give me one perfect world And let me stay inside

I touched the glass The ruins bloomed The empty halls were gold again Every door stood open wide Every stranger called me friend

No grief remained No choice went wrong No wound survived No one was gone

And for a moment I believed This was the world That waited underneath

Then something cracked Across the light The flowers died The gold went white

For half a breath I saw the room As it had always been

Blackglass crown Beautiful lie Put the broken world together Right before my eyes

Blackglass crown Make every wrong feel right Give me one perfect world And let me stay inside

I took it off

The palace fell Back into dust and stone

He never asked What I had seen

He already seemed to know

I held the crown Against my chest

And hated what came next

I knew the lie I knew the cost

And still I wanted it

Blackglass crown I know your lie You don’t heal a broken world You only hide the sight

Blackglass crown I choose the harder light Truth was uglier without you

But at least It was mine

I left the crown Beside the throne

Then caught my face In broken glass

It smiled

Before I did
