Corra’s Light began with Grace Enough for Tonight.
The larger inspiration came from observing people of faith in my own life and paying attention to how they carried themselves when circumstances became difficult. Over time I had seen people deal with uncertainty, responsibility, fear, changing circumstances, and things they simply could not control.
What interested me was not only what happened to them. It was how they moved through it.
I saw people continue caring for others while carrying burdens of their own. I saw grace under pressure, compassion when withdrawal would have been easier, and a quieter kind of strength that did not require pretending everything was fine.
One particularly difficult season in someone else’s life gave the idea for this song more urgency. I wanted to create something that might actually meet them where they were.
The idea that emerged was intentionally modest.
The song would not promise that everything was going to work out. It would not suggest that faith guarantees an immediate answer or removes fear. It would simply offer the possibility that a person might receive enough grace for one night, enough peace for one moment, without having to solve the entire future first.
That became the foundation of Corra’s Light.
The project is explicitly Christian, but from the beginning I wanted the faith in these songs to remain compatible with reality. Questions can remain unanswered. Circumstances can remain frightening. Hope does not require pretending otherwise.
Grace Enough for Tonight became a song about resting inside that tension. It is worshipful, but it is also meant to feel like companionship. Something quiet enough to sit beside a person who is tired, worried, or overwhelmed without trying to explain away what they are going through.
That balance became one of the defining ideas behind Corra’s Light: faith without easy answers, comfort without false promises, and the possibility of finding God’s presence even when very little else feels certain.
Creative Notes
The musical direction was established early as soft Christian rock and contemporary worship, roughly 78 to 84 BPM.
The arrangement was designed around acoustic guitar and piano, with gentle electric guitar swells, light atmospheric support, and steady mid-tempo drums.
The intended vocal was warm, intimate, sincere, and emotionally vulnerable rather than highly polished or theatrical.
A deliberate songwriting constraint was avoiding promises of instant healing or resolution. The worship focus instead emphasized surrender, sufficient grace, peace in the present, and God’s nearness.
The project direction favored direct Christian language such as Lord, grace, mercy, prayer, and surrender rather than disguising the song as generic spirituality.
Lyrics
Clock light glowing in the dark Another sleepless weary heart Lord I’m trying to hold it all But the weight is just too much
You’ve been carrying the questions Fighting just to stay afloat Holding family holding faith While the worry takes its toll
Fear comes rolling like the thunder In the quiet of the night But I know You’re in the silence You see every hidden tear I cry
I don’t have to fight alone I’ve never been on my own
Grace enough for tonight Peace enough for this moment When the worries overwhelm And my strength is almost gone
I lay it down I lay it down At Your feet where it belongs Even here Lord You hear my song And in the end Your love remains
Grace enough for tonight
You are near in every silence In the waiting and the pain Not every prayer brings lightning But Your mercy still remains
Though this valley feels so long I am safely held by You By the hands that calmed the oceans The hands that’ll carry me through
I breathe You in I breathe You in You are my rest You are my strength I cast my cares upon You Lord For You care for me
You care for me
Grace enough for tonight Hope enough for tomorrow When the road ahead is hard And my soul feels tired and worn
I lay it down I lay it down At Your feet where it belongs Even here Lord You hear my song And in the end Your love remains
Grace enough for tonight
Morning light will come again I will still be held by grace Not because I’m strong enough But because I’m loved by You
