The Original Blueprint

A single by RoyRoy Genkins. A reflective RoyRoy Genkins song about authenticity, human creation, fatherhood, and the deeper reality that remains beneath the appearances we construct.

The Story Behind The Original Blueprint

The Original Blueprint grew out of a series of ordinary observations about appearance and authenticity. I had been noticing people who looked markedly different after major weight loss, thinking about the old Glamour Shots era, modern makeup, cosmetic work, filters, and the increasingly perfected people we see in photographs and digital media. Some of those tools can make a person look dramatically different. As AI-generated people become more convincing, that distance between the presented image and the underlying human being is only going to become easier to create.

What interested me was not really the makeup, the medication, or any one technology. It was the larger question underneath all of them. How much can we change the image before we lose sight of what is actually there? There is a difference between caring for the real person through health, exercise, nutrition, rest, and other choices, and constructing a surface that may have less and less connection to the person underneath it.

I realized that this connected naturally with an older song idea I had never quite finished. That song came from a much more personal place. When my son was born, I remember seeing him in the hospital and experiencing the overwhelming reality that an entirely new human being existed. Fatherhood gave the larger philosophical question a human center. Appearance can change. Images can be manufactured. Time changes all of us. But life itself continues through real people, real families, and generations that existed long before any of us and may continue long after us.

The Original Blueprint became less about criticizing artificial beauty and more about appreciating what cannot be manufactured so easily: the strange, improbable, deeply human fact that we are here at all.

Creative Notes

This song began as a stalled concept called The Beauty of Creation. The earlier version leaned much more heavily on the miracle of procreation, fatherhood, and the contrast between that meaning and a culture that can trivialize sexuality. During this session, newer observations about altered appearance, curated beauty, authenticity, and AI-generated perfection gave the concept a broader and more contemporary frame. The newer material eventually became the entry point, while the fatherhood material supplied the emotional depth the earlier concept had been missing.

The title The Original Blueprint emerged from that combination. It allowed the song to suggest biology, ancestry, identity, and an underlying human reality without turning the language clinical.

The final structure also required some experimentation in Suno. Identical chorus sections caused the model to pull the intended ending forward into the middle of the song. The verse pairs were consolidated, and a small lyrical variation was introduced into the second chorus. That was enough to make Suno preserve the intended progression and leave the strongest chorus variation for the ending.

The artwork exploration followed the same search for a balance between literal and symbolic imagery. Concepts included a newborn hand holding a parent’s finger, generational figures, a solitary tree with subtly suggestive roots, a human portrait with blueprint overlays, a hospital room in morning light, a father and child beneath the stars, and landscapes carrying faint blueprint imagery. Throughout the exploration, the RoyRoy Genkins cover typography remained consistent with the established catalog: large classic serif title treatment, smaller all-caps artist name, and warm cream or ivory lettering.

Listen & Follow

Play the song while you follow the lyrics.

Everywhere the lights are shining Faces shaped for borrowed glow Careful colors on the mirror Learning what the cameras show Every picture tells a story Polished smooth and standing tall But somewhere underneath the surface Lives the truth beneath it all

Beauty painted in the window Perfect angles, careful light Every flaw erased and softened For a world that looks tonight Still I wonder in the silence Watching strangers passing through What remains when all the colors Fade away from what we view

And the original blueprint carries on Through the turning of the years In the quiet breath of life itself Beyond the mirrors and the mirrors’ fears All the faces that we fashion All the images we make Still the original blueprint waits In every life we wake

I remember sterile lighting In a quiet hospital room Gentle voices moving softly Through the humming of the gloom Then a tiny hand reached upward Wrapped around my trembling skin In that moment I discovered Where the deeper truths begin

Years unfold like quiet pages Childhood running toward the sun Suddenly the days grow shorter And the growing years are done One day laughter may return here From a child not yet in view Carrying the ancient pattern Of the life that carried you

And the original blueprint carries on Through the turning of the years In the silent breath of every life Beyond the mirrors and the mirrors’ fears All the faces that we fashion All the images we make Still the original blueprint waits In every life we wake

Trillions of small chances turning Through the endless sea of time Every ancestor behind us Every heartbeat in its line Yet against the vast forever Here we stand and breathe today Living proof that life continues In its quiet, patient way

And the original blueprint carries on Through the turning of the years In the fragile hands of newborn life Beyond the passing masks and mirrors All the beauty we imagine All the worlds we try to shape Still the original blueprint lives In every life we wake
