The Story Behind Turn Around in Time
“Turn Around In Time” grew out of a real discussion about a proposed challenge that, on closer examination, seemed to be pushing beyond the preparation and safety margin available. There was already momentum behind the original plan, but the more the situation was considered, the clearer it became that pressing ahead simply because it was the plan did not make it the courageous choice.
That became the heart of the song. Sometimes the difficult choice is not continuing forward. Sometimes it is recognizing the signs early enough to change direction.
I liked the idea because it reaches well beyond the situation that inspired it. There are plenty of moments in life when momentum, pride, or commitment to an earlier plan can make turning around feel like defeat. The song looks at that choice differently. Wisdom can mean stopping. Courage can mean changing the plan. Faith can mean trusting that another opportunity will still be there when the time is right.
The real-world situation ultimately moved in a more conservative direction rather than forcing the original objective. The song grew from that moment, but it was written broadly enough to stand on its own as a reflection on judgment, humility, and knowing when to turn around in time.
Creative Notes
The song was developed specifically for Loriena Drift’s electronic identity. Several production directions were explored, including emotional Christian EDM, uplifting progressive house, and cinematic future bass. Shorter, less prescriptive Suno style prompts produced the strongest results.
The artwork also went through an identity correction during development. Early concepts drifted too close to Corra’s Light and, in one iteration, even carried the wrong artist identity. The final visual direction returned to Loriena Drift’s established language: deep blue and violet tones, warm gold light, a female figure, a mountain road, and subtle electronic or concentric visual elements. The result connects the mountain setting to Loriena Drift without making the cover look like traditional Christian rock artwork.
