The Story Behind Starlit Wonder's Pull
Nebula’s Pulse started here.
Before there was a long science-fiction storyline, recurring signals, technological discoveries, questions about identity, or a larger future history for humanity, there was a much simpler thought experiment.
I had been spending a lot of time thinking about science, physics, intelligence, and increasingly capable AI reasoning. Somewhere in that process I started playing with a question that crossed a boundary I normally keep fairly open: what would happen if you imagined God as something like a singularity?
Not as theology. Not as an explanation of how the universe works. Just as a thought experiment.
A singularity has this extraordinary conceptual weight to it. Everything is drawn toward it. Distance begins to behave differently. Our normal understanding of space and time starts to fail. That gave me another idea. What if the thing ultimately pulling everything together was not destruction, but connection? What if love could be imagined at that scale?
That became Starlit Wonder’s Pull.
The song approaches the idea through wonder rather than certainty. Its perspective looks into the night sky and asks questions without pretending to have answers. Science, spirituality, mortality, consciousness, and human emotion are allowed to overlap for a few minutes without one having to defeat the others.
At the time, I was not setting out to create a nineteen-song science-fiction universe.
That came later.
As I kept exploring these ideas, Nebula’s Pulse began moving from individual questions about physics and technology into much larger ones about signals, intelligence, memory, identity, connection, consciousness, and what humanity might eventually become. Stories began connecting. A future history started taking shape.
Looking backward, Starlit Wonder’s Pull feels like the doorway into all of it. The later universe became much more concrete and narrative, but the questions underneath it were already here.
Creative Notes
Starlit Wonder’s Pull was created before Nebula’s Pulse had developed into its larger serialized science-fiction storyline. It began as a standalone science and physics inspired concept and became the first song associated with the artist.
The original creative seed involved treating God as a hypothetical singularity and exploring the possibility that connection or love might behave metaphorically like a fundamental force. The intent was speculative rather than doctrinal. The song asks the question without claiming knowledge about God, consciousness, death, or an afterlife.
That distinction became important as Nebula’s Pulse evolved. Later releases built an increasingly detailed fictional universe around technology, signals, civilization, intelligence, memory, consciousness, and humanity’s future. Starlit Wonder’s Pull predates much of that worldbuilding, but it contains several of the questions that eventually became central to it.
The title preserves the sense of curiosity and attraction without explaining the underlying philosophical idea directly.
The current single artwork was developed from the established Nebula’s Pulse visual motif. It uses a deep indigo starfield, a luminous magenta and lavender nebula shaped around a central heart-like form, and a glowing pulse waveform. During development, additional explanatory text was deliberately removed so the cover would carry only the song title and the Nebula’s Pulse name. The final direction keeps the symbolism strong without turning the artwork into an explanation of the song.

All the light that ever burned Still flickers in the heart I’ve learned Every distance, every tear Falls toward the center, drawing near
Every atom knows the way Back to where the soul was made
The singularity is love The force that pulls the stars above Through every dark, through every flame The pulse within remains the same
As a child, I searched the sky for why Threads of wonder woven through the night Every heartbeat, every breath Folds the space between life and death
In the silence, truth aligns All creation intertwined
The singularity is love The force that pulls the stars above Through every dark, through every flame The pulse within remains the same
When all I am begins to fade I’ll fall into the light I made The end, the start, the endless sum The singularity is love
The singularity is love
